Google Analytics Implementations
What is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is a free analysis tool for websites and web shops. In 2020, Google Analytics 4 was introduced as a replacement for Universal Analytics. There are important differences between the 2 versions and as of July 1, 2023, Universal Analytics will stop collecting new data. Therefore, it is important to make the switch as soon as possible.
Doesn’t it work the same as the old version?
Many people run into difficulty with the updated interface of Google Analytics 4 and therefore miss out on important information and insights they were used to. This is also because certain reports are no longer returning, which people used a lot. The idea is that one will independently create custom reports in GA4 and thus decide which events and data will be stored. On our wiki, we have already created how to articles and videos for people who are new to GA4.
It is said that you can easily migrate through the interface, should I do that?
Surely, we see Google Analytics 4 more as an updated way to get from data to actionable insights, which requires a different implementation and vision, than one was used to. After all, if you do not engage in data enrichment yourself in Google Analytics, you will only come to standard insights because of the standard events being measured, whereas the power lies in unlocking your own data in Google Analytics. Even with the restrictions coming with the use of third-party marketing cookies, it is good to think about a first-party data strategy.
I have a webshop, can you also help me?
Yes you certainly can. We can use various CMS and webshop software to support you with setting up Google Analytics 4 correctly. Consider e-commerce tracking for Shopify or Woocommerce , for example. But we can also support you with WordPress or Drupal or other systems. For a complete overview of e-commerce tracking check out this article ->. E-commerce tracking in Google Analytics 4
