What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics is a free web analytics software package from Google. With this software you can measure the results of your website or webshop or blog and forum. This gives you insights into what visitors are doing on your platform. 1 of the most used functions is to see which web pages have been visited by your visitors or to measure the actions that visitors perform on your website or webshop.

Logging into Google Analytics is very easy via the Google Analytics homepage. What do you need to log in? If you’ve never created an account before, you’ll use a gmail address from Google, or you’ll use your own email address linked to Google Gmail.

Is Google Analytics free?

Yes, the use of Google Analytics and Google Analytics 4 is free. You can very easily install and activate Google Analytics after creating the account. Are you curious about how to do this? Is Google Analytics banned?

No, the use of Google Analytics in the Netherlands is not prohibited. However, there are some countries in Europe that do not allow the use of Universal Analytics. This is due to the fact that the old version of Google Analytics cannot guarantee that the data is stored within Europe. Since the advent of Google Analytics 4, the data does get stored in Europe and the use of the IP address is automatically anonymized.

What is Google Analytics 4 and Google Universal Analytics and what are the differences?

Launched in 2020, Google Analytics 4 is the successor to Universal Analytics. The differences between the two platforms are actually different both in look and feel and in how the data is displayed and measured. We wrote an article about this on our Google Analytics 4 wiki.
